Jeffrey B. Maltzman is a founding partner and principal of the firm.  Before founding Maltzman Foreman, he was also a name partner with Kaye, Rose & Maltzman, a law firm headquartered in San Diego, California. He is a former Judge Pro Tem of the Municipal Court of California, San Diego County.

 

Mr. Maltzman specializes in all aspects of complex commercial litigation, admiralty, insurance defense, corporate crisis management, and media relations. In his 20 years of practicing law, he has accumulated extensive experience handling mass casualty cases, class actions, products and premises liability matters, sexual assault, negligent security, and medical malpractice. Additionally, he has substantial trial experience, specializing in tort litigation involving cruise ships and other blue and brown water vessels, labor and employment matters, complex commercial litigation, medical malpractice, product liability, and insurance defense.

 

Moreover, Mr. Maltzman is experienced in matters involving gaming, sexual assault, and class action litigation.  He has also represented manufacturers’ and insurers’ interests in shoreside product liability and premises liability cases.  He is frequently called upon by clients to assist them with major crisis management and helps companies respond timely to major mass casualty or other high profile crisis.  At client's request, he frequently appears in the media to represent companies on CNN, Court TV and other major television networks.    

 

Outside the courtroom, he frequently lectures on a wide array of maritime human resources and tort issues. He also provides training to both shoreside and shipboard employees on issues such as diversity and sexual harassment.  In 1996, he assisted in drafting successful federal and state legislation, including two maritime tort reform bills and The Cruise Ship Revitalization Act. Mr. Maltzman has participated in drafting position papers for circulation on Capitol Hill on behalf of industry trade groups concerning the effect of proposed legislation.

 

Jeffrey is happily married and has two children. His hobbies include boating, skiing, scuba diving and snorkeling. Jeffrey is an avid boater and enjoys SCUBA, snorkeling and skiing.
