Mr. Gibbons, a partner at Maltzman Foreman, specializes in commercial law, personal injury, and admiralty and maritime litigation. He has handled matters of unseaworthiness, maintenance and cure actions, insurance coverage disputes, insurance bad faith claims, and auto and premises liability actions. Furthermore, he has represented small and medium sized businesses on various transactional matters including commercial real estate leases, employment matters, and contract negotiation.

His litigation experience speaks for itself. He has tried over fifty cases in front of a jury as the lead or single attorney. Of all the personal injury cases he has tried in front of a jury as counsel for the defense, only one has received a verdict in excess of plaintiff’s settlement demand. He has also received several defense verdicts where negligence was admitted but the injury and/or causation was disputed. Moreover he has handled more than one hundred arbitrations through the Cook County Mandatory Arbitration Program and AAA.

In addition to his litigation and arbitration experience, Mr. Gibbons has also served as Assistant Counsel to Speaker Michael J. Madigan of the Illinois House of Representatives. Additionally, Mr. Gibbons has lectured to various audiences on defending maintenance and cure actions and handling medical negligence actions on behalf of a shipowner.
